Temba Bavuma discusses South Africa’s loss by the Netherlands.


South Africa captain Temba Bavuma has admitted that his team “faltered again when it mattered the most” after their shock loss to the Netherlands in the Cricket World Cup.

The Proteas were one of the favorites to win the tournament, but they were stunned by the Dutch in a rain-reduced 43-over match.

Bavuma disappointed with team’s performance

Furthermore, Bavuma was clearly disappointed with his team’s performance in the match against the Netherlands.

“It was a disappointing performance,” he said. They bowled very well and put us under pressure.”

Bavuma also said that his team’s batting was not up to scratch.

“We didn’t bat well enough,” he said. “We lost too many wickets early on and that cost us.”

Bavuma backs his team to bounce back

Despite the loss, Bavuma backed his team to bounce back in the tournament. South Africa still have three matches to play and need two wins to qualify for the semi-finals.

“We’re a good team and we believe in ourselves,” Bavuma said. “We know that we can make it to the semi-finals, but we need to start playing better cricket.”

Bavuma praises Netherlands

Bavuma praised the Netherlands for their performance, saying that they “played a very good game”.

“They batted well, bowled well, and fielded well,” he said.


South Africa’s loss to the Netherlands was a major setback, but they still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals of the Cricket World Cup.
